I'm thinking the new leader in the "must make the team / released by may" race is now Mark McCoy. As well as being speedy and being able to play all over the infield and outfield, he probably ranks high in the all-important "grittiness" (in that he's white, short, and has no power). I don't know, not paying attention to most of the media or any message boards I don't know if he's been tagged as such yet, but it's a pretty safe bet.
Look as a guy who can actually play a bunch of positions, I think it's great that it might be him and not some masher who stands in lf. At least we probably won't have to watch him boot balls all over the place while we figure out he really can't hit curve balls. And He certainly has put in his time. But I'm pretty sure if he does make it the reason he has only made one short MLB appearance in all his years is going to show up.
