Taking a closer look at the Morrow Trade

I've had some more time to look at the stats and I think you have to be fairly impressed with Morrow. Obviously dude is not considered anywhere a sure thing by Seattle given his up and down performance and injury problems over his first 3 part seasons. But the 15 starts he has made show promise, and he was very good pretty much everywhere in the minors, so it's not a case of "finally showing his talent at the major league level". Clearly the Jays are going to give him the ball every 5 days next season until he hurts himself or proves he can't be a starter because he ain't got it or he can't stay healthy. After that he has shown he has potential as a reliever, about as good as League was, if not better (he actually has more career saves than League, not that that really means anything).

The only way this ends up looking bad is if he can't stay healthy and never shows anything, and Chavez turns into a really good player. Because it's not like the farm system is crawling with top outfield prospects right now. If it goes well Morrow replaces McGowan, who I really think will never pitch again.

Throw in the "under control longer than League", "younger than League", "frustration with League's potential" stuff and this is a pretty good trade.
